Pohjolan Peruna is the first Finnish industrial manufacturer of potato products, whose operations began in Northern Ostrobothnia in 1962. The potatoes come from local contract farmers, as they have come for over 60 years. The collaboration has continued with many farmers for several years and even decades, spanning generations.

Passion for development

The preparation process and quality levels of our products are controlled carefully at all steps. Our R&D is continuously looking for new varieties of potato and production techniques which will enable us to continuously enhance our ranges of existing products as well as to develop new products, in accordance with the changing needs of our customers.

Pohjolan Peruna Oy is implementing an investment project to develop product safety with support from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The project will introduce a quality and food safety system in accordance with the BRC standard, which supports business continuity in Vihanti as well as growth in Finland and nearby areas. The goal is GFSI-certified product safety and a stronger market position. Implementation period: 2025–2027. The EU’s and the state’s funding share is 25%.

Pohjolan Peruna Oy is implementing an investment project to increase the capacity of the production freezer with support from the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development. The project will streamline the production of frozen products, which supports business continuity in Vihanti as well as growth in Finland and nearby areas. The aim is to increase production volume in an energy-efficient manner. Implementation period: 2025–2027. The EU’s and the state’s funding share is 25%.
